Guangzhou Guangqiao’s optical transmission products support Changsha Metro Line 6.

On June 28, Changsha Metro Line 6—the city’s first smart metro line and the first to adopt a PPP model under the Guangzhou–Changsha cooperation framework—officially opened for service. Guangzhou Guangqiao supplied fiber-optic transmission equipment for Changsha Metro Line 6.
Changsha Metro Line 6 spans 48.11 kilometers and comprises 34 stations. Running primarily in an east–west direction, it stretches from Xiejiabiao Station in the Meixi Lake area in the west to Terminal 1 & Terminal 2 Station at Huanghua Airport in the east. It is the longest line in Changsha’s approved rail‑transit network, crossing the greatest number of districts and counties, featuring the most transfer stations, presenting the highest construction challenges, and serving the broadest geographic area. Additionally, it is the city’s first metro line providing direct access to the airport.
The entire line is designed around the concept of “Prosperous Xiaoxiang, Glorious New City,” drawing on Changsha’s distinctive cultural and technological elements to create five culturally themed stations:
Wenchangge Station with With “Fun in Changsha” as its theme and drawing design inspiration from the Changsha dialect, this project seamlessly blends cultural depth with engaging content, highlighting the city’s distinctive regional character while inviting visitors to savor its rich cultural ambiance.
Zhongtang Station with Taking “The Cultural Heritage of Yuelu” as its theme, the design draws on the spirit of Yuelu Academy—youthful ambition, culture as its soul, and youth as its wings—highlighting the city’s enduring drive and spirit of progress.
South Station of Martyrs’ Park With “Revolutionary Heritage” as its theme, the design emphasizes harmony with the surrounding environment, imbuing this station with a spatial experience that is both majestic and imposing yet bright and solemn.
Longping Rice Museum Station is themed “A Tribute to Bountiful Harvests,” incorporating design elements inspired by rice and terraced fields. Through an artistic approach, it vividly portrays the splendor of a bountiful harvest, paying homage to the “strivers of the new era.”
Huanghua Airport The T1T2 station is themed “Setting Sail on the Wind,” echoing the spatial form of the Huanghua Airport terminal. Its centrally arched, tiered design progressively ascends, embodying the image of Changsha’s new‑era pioneers as steadfast pillars of strength.
Changsha Metro Line 6 is also a smart metro, actively leveraging technologies such as station-wide panoramic monitoring, intelligent digital inspections, and automated station switching. It has achieved collaborative operational management, full-lifecycle equipment maintenance, decision-support for station operations, and a convenient passenger experience.
The stations on Line 6 are packed with cutting-edge technology, featuring an integrated smart passenger service system that combines intelligent security checks, smart ticketing, diversified payment options, and AI‑powered customer service, delivering round‑the‑clock, comprehensive, and highly personalized support to riders.
To ensure a smoother ride, stations provide guidance information—such as station floor plans, in‑station facilities, and emergency evacuation routes—through electronic signage at entry/exit points, on platforms, and inside train cars. Passengers can also check the smart displays on platform screen doors for real-time updates on temperature, passenger flow, and car occupancy, allowing them to board less crowded cars and receive optimal travel recommendations.
At the intelligent customer service center powered by advanced AI technology, there is a smart “digital agent” that automatically analyzes the semantics of passenger inquiries and navigates them to the relevant service interface, providing quick answers. Via voice‑based queries, passengers can also directly connect with operations staff in the train control room, enabling one‑stop resolution of all travel‑related questions.
