16E1-to-4-Ethernet Protocol Converter

1. Transparent transmission of Ethernet data over 1 to 16 E1 circuits. 2. Optionally equipped with four Ethernet switch ports, saving the user from needing an additional Ethernet switch. 3. Ethernet interface supports 10/100 Mbps, with full/half-duplex auto‑negotiation and VLAN protocol support. 4. Each Ethernet port supports AUTO‑MDIX (automatic adaptation for crossover and straight-through cables). 5. The Ethernet interface can also be configured as an optical port, enabling long‑distance interconnection of Ethernet traffic over E1 links. 6. Among the 16 E1 lines, the maximum latency difference between any two channels can reach 220 ms; if this difference exceeds 220 ms, a latency‑exceedance alarm is triggered, and service is interrupted.

Product Overview

The protocol converter employs reverse multiplexing technology to aggregate multiple E1 circuits for transmitting 10/100 Mbps Ethernet data, enabling bidirectional conversion between 1 to 16 E1 channels and Ethernet interfaces, thus achieving interconnection between E1 lines and Ethernet. Ethernet encapsulation utilizes GFP, supporting both LCAS and LAPS protocols.

This device supports flexible configuration of 1 to 16 E1 channels (75/120 ohms), automatically detects the number of available E1 lines, and allows for a certain transmission latency difference between E1 circuits. The line rate per channel is 1,984 kbit/s; with four channels, the bandwidth reaches 7,936 kbit/s; with eight channels, it reaches 15,872 kbit/s; and with sixteen channels, it reaches 31,744 kbit/s.

It features comprehensive alarm functionality, stable and reliable operation, low power consumption, high integration, and a compact form factor. It also includes a network management module and supports standalone SNMP-based network management. It is suitable for a wide range of applications, including LAN interconnection, central-office interconnection, video-on-demand, remote monitoring, and E1‑interface card insertion in switches.

Product Features

1. Currently, Ethernet data is transparently transmitted over 1 to 16 E1 circuits.

2. Optionally equipped with four Ethernet switch ports, saving the user from needing an additional Ethernet switch.

3. Ethernet interface: 10/100 Mbps, full/half-duplex with auto-negotiation, supports VLAN protocol.

4. Each Ethernet port supports AUTO-MDIX (automatic adaptation for crossover and straight-through cables).

5. The Ethernet interface can also be optionally configured as an optical port, enabling long-distance transmission of optical Ethernet data over E1 links.

6. On E1 line 16, the maximum delay difference between any two channels can reach 220 ms; when this delay difference exceeds 220 ms, a delay‑exceedance alarm is triggered, and service is interrupted.

7. Built-in dynamic Ethernet MAC address table (4,096 entries) with local frame filtering capability.

8. The E1 interface complies with ITU-T G.703, G.704, and G.823, and does not support the use of signaling timeslots.

9. Timing mode: Supports both local timing and E1‑line‑based timing tracking. The E1 line timing source can switch automatically based on signal quality. For example, if the system’s primary E1 timing source is Line 1 and Line 1 experiences a fault (severe alarms such as LOS, AIS, LOF, or CRC4, or a signal loopback), while Line 2 remains operational, the system will automatically switch to track Line 2. Once the fault is cleared, the system will automatically revert to tracking Line 1.

10. Compliant with ITU‑T standard protocols: GFP‑F encapsulation is recommended in G.7041; VCAT virtual concatenation and the LCAS link capacity adjustment method are recommended in G.7042; Ethernet‑to‑nxE1 mapping is recommended in G.7043; and Ethernet‑to‑single E1 mapping is recommended in G.8040.

11. When the transmission bandwidth is increased, Ethernet data remains unaffected; when the transmission bandwidth is manually reduced, Ethernet data can also be preserved through network management.

12. The E1 tributaries at both ends do not need to be connected in sequential order.

13. When a fault occurs in one direction on an E1 tributary, the other direction can still operate.

14. Automatic detection and disconnection of E1 signal loopback: When a loopback is detected on a particular E1 channel, the system automatically disconnects that channel; once the loopback is cleared, the channel is automatically restored to service.

15. Comprehensive alarm indication, with the option to display local or remote alarms.
