Intelligent Traffic Electronic Police System

Release time:

2025-02-19

In recent years, driven by rapid economic and social development, urban areas have continued to expand, the urbanization process has accelerated, and urban populations have grown swiftly. Concurrently, as living standards have risen, motor vehicle ownership has surged, leading to a substantial increase in transportation demand. This has disrupted the previous balance between transport supply and demand. Meanwhile, the upgrading of urban infrastructure, traffic management facilities, and administrative capacity has failed to keep pace with the rapid growth of mobility needs. As a result, existing shortcomings and inefficiencies in infrastructure have become increasingly apparent, while the technological sophistication of traffic management remains inadequate. Consequently, traffic‑management strategies and measures remain largely empirical and experimental, still in an early stage of development.

With the rapid development of China’s national economy and the accelerating pace of urbanization, the role of transportation in both the national economy and modern social development has become increasingly prominent. Consequently, addressing urban traffic congestion has emerged as a critical issue for sustainable urban development, posing significant challenges to urban road traffic management. Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), in turn, are well‑suited to meet the objective demands of contemporary socio‑economic progress. This proposal focuses specifically on the electronic police component of intelligent transportation systems.

Scheme Overview and Features:

I. Frontend Section

1. The front-end component of the red-light‑violating electronic police system is an installation at intersections and serves as the core device for capturing red-light violations. It employs video‑plus‑loop detection to trigger a high-definition camera, enabling functions such as: determining minor red-light violations, capturing images, recognizing vehicle license plates, identifying plate colors, compressing data, storing and transmitting data, and managing the device itself.

2. The front-end equipment primarily comprises video acquisition terminals mounted on poles, a control and processing system, and associated peripheral devices.

II. Communication Section

1. The function of the communication module is to transmit the information collected by the front-end, including vehicle violation data and traffic volume information.

Then, via a dedicated communication network, the data is uploaded to the central application server system.

2. Supports various wired and wireless communication devices.

III. Central Section

1. The central unit, via the communication system, receives illegal activity reports, traffic information, and status updates transmitted from the front-end devices.

Status, stored in the database, for use by all application processes.
